The great movement in adult learning for the coming decade is from training as a discrete activity aimed at changing the individual to develop as a force for organisational and societal change.
In all our programs, we engage participants in a comprehensive exploration of the practice of leadership to develop their adaptive approach to current and future challenges.
Wisdom can be developed – and it is needed more than ever with the issues we face at work, at home and across the globe.
Vision, Leadership and Responsibility in STEMM in a Transforming World
No matter a person’s technical background, STEMMCulture programs focus on developing both the individual and the collective to achieve behaviour and culture change. We facilitate a deeper understanding of relationships and the role of organisational systems to mobilise people to tackle tough challenges.
We enable people to figure out and make sense of what is going on in their specific context and help them to work out feasible adaptive moves that avoid quick fixes and/or knee-jerk reactions.
Since 2010 we have used this approach for programs involving groups of 15—120 participants and incorporated:
- Contextualist frameworks that support leading amidst both the chaos and ordinariness of getting the everyday things done
- An orientation towards action
- A focus on desired behaviour change that lasts longer than the duration of the program
- Experimentation that links actions, observations, reflection and planning
- Innovative strategic responses.
Overview of Our Programs
Our approach comes from a rich and varied theory and practice space that supports real change through a practical focus on tackling existing leadership challenges with new skills and perspectives. It is specific
1. Executive Coaching and Peer Mentoring
Coaching and peer mentoring provides a pragmatic path to developing wisdom fit for the times and the challenges facing leaders today.
We question helping leaders perform better within existing systems and contexts, some of which, far from helping their people flourish, are manifestly dysfunctional and even toxic. Instead, we roll up our sleeves and work with the wonderful messiness in organisations. Instead, we see our role within organisations are critical and with the potential for a profound secondary effect upon the well-being of employees across all levels.
Coaching is a key driver of performance and the development with leaders of the skills and ability necessary for enhancing the energy of employees, not just the traditional approach of addressing skills, knowledge and behaviours.
During coaching, we engage a leader’s whole presence and help them to make their own sense about what is happening, what they are doing, and what is possible. We help them to improve how to support their teams and grow organisational capacity.
2. Self-directed learning
We provide bespoke online personally transformative programs for leaders and aspiring leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine aimed at facilitating wisdom. Throughout each program, participants can engage with learning content at any time from any device. Content includes high quality video tutorials, ‘best practice’ leadership literature, experiential activities and reflective tasks.
3. Amplify Women in STEMM™ – Supporting the advancement of female leaders across STEMM
To address the shocking statistics that continue to fuel the debate around gender equality, STEMMCulture has created a suite of innovative programs specifically designed for advancing female leaders at all levels that provide an informed understanding of the unique complexities women leaders face in the contemporary workplace. Our Amplify Women in STEMM™ programs enhance the capacity and confidence of executive women in addition to creating powerful role models for future female leaders.
Over a career-defining, twelve-month journey, participants engage in a deep exploration of their own strengths and weaknesses and develop their ability to build and lead highly effective organisational communities to face the dilemmas and ‘wicked problems’ that defy solution.
Each program is purpose designed to stretch participants beyond their comfort zone; to challenge them to develop their critical thinking abilities and begin to unlock their full leadership potential. It’s a personally transformational process that increases wisdom.
