STEMMCulture recently delivered the third of Liquid Learning’s 2018 series of 2-day Advanced Leadership for Scientists workshops conducted in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
During each session, participants from industry, government departments, universities and research institutes were deeply engaged in activities focussed on enhancing their personal leadership mastery and effectiveness in facing the complex challenges of everyday work with insight and wisdom.STEMMCulture: Cultivating Leadership in STEMM Click To TweetTo develop the counterintuitive skills required to lead effectively in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world we presented a number of frameworks including Adaptive versus Technical Leadership, the Cynefin model, Systems Thinking and Adult developmental theory. These frameworks were then systematically applied into real work examples using an action research methodology. Subsequently, the ability of each participant to engage differently, think differently and act differently was developed.
Feedback on the workshops, collected from participant surveys, was consistently ‘Excellent’, with an ‘Outstanding’ column created by a participant following the Sydney workshop!
We are confident that each participant returned to their workplace with a new way to think about leadership and what is required of them as they move forward.
